Qoheleth 3:1-13 selected For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven: … I know that there is nothing better for them than to be happy and enjoy themselves as long as they live; also that it is God's gift to man that every one should eat and drink and take pleasure in all his toil.
There isn’t time for everything, but there is time for everything.
There is a time for everything, but that time might not be now.
Life is about knowing what time it is – and everyone must already know this, as we have watches and clocks just about everywhere, even in places your wouldn’t expect them.
The problem is that although watches and clocks can tell us the time with great accuracy, they might not tell us enough. That is why the ultimate in knowing what time it is, comes from knowing God. You see, God gives us every minute of every day, and He has a plan for all of it – and most of the frustration we face in life, is when we make plans without consulting God first.
Think about it, when did you ask God, and listen to God – and it not turn out good? Why do we forget the one thing that has always worked? Why do we continually have to rediscover this lost secret? Why? In part that is the nature of sin, it is like receiving a treasured gift, and forgetting the giver. The other part, is that the devil would really like to have us forget about God and His Word, for there is someone who is actively working to lead us astray.
So some people will spend their all their time remembering their regrets, that’s why they have no time – regret is good if it helps us to learn, so that we do not repeat the same mistakes, regret is good if it leads us to repentance – and we would regret it if we had never heard that there was a Savior, who has come, who brings us forgiveness for all our sins – who makes us a new creation.
You don’t need to wait for a new year, forgiveness is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks of the year, its even available on the leap-day of the leap-year. There is no time to waste, for once you see your sins, why not get on with getting the most out of life, as a forgiven child of God? And that is how we can have time for everything, and everything in its time – we turn to God, we seek his direction – and a wonderful promise is given us: to eat, to drink, to enjoy our work, and be happy knowing that we have a great good shepherd who prepares good things for us each and every day, and gives us the right thing at the right time – this is the God who not only provides us all this, but has given his Son to be our Savior, so that a new beginning as a forgiven child of God is always at hand.
